“If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” - Mother Teresa
Hunger
Railway track laid
like a sick mistress
Crowd stranded
on the platform
due to disruptions
murmured indifferently
A vague announcement
Passed through
the grueling patience
of the crowd
“May” is always like
a furnace
the sweat outside and
the agony inside
I heard someone saying
When you come to catch train
there is a disruption
When you go home to sleep
there is power cut
When you go to office and work
there is boss with a firearm
What a life!
I stared at the track
and spotted a gypsy girl
playing with an empty
water bottle
I saw a glittering smile
in her pale face
reflected through the sunrays.
Must be trying to forget
the Hunger
Suddenly the train came
I heard a faint cry
Between the helplessness and
the agony of the crowd
I thought
This is the way we eradicate
Poverty

A nice and touching poem.

Vijay,
Quite subtly said, but very hard-hitting!
